Finally we made to the theater to check out ‘The Karate Kid”. Not a bad remake of an American classic. Jackie Chan was particularly good in this film The only criticism I might offer is the manner in which the tournament scenes were filmed and cut together. The camera was punched in way too close to the action and the editing of the tournament was a little too Michael Bay-esque. The original Karate Kid is a little more believable, that is an American kid getting good enough(in a short amount of time) to compete in an American tournament. The current film takes place in China and is centered around Kung Fu. No kid in the world could travel to China and compete at a high level Kung Fu Tournament with only a few months training, however, the film still is excellent. Not quite as good or dynamic as the original. But, still a nice offering at the theater.
Cheers,
Jett
