I have no problem with folks who train getting together and doing a little sparring. But, watch the video have a laugh. These young men have the courage for martial arts. Perhaps they do not have the brains or character. Anyway, have a laugh. This is the type of sloppy technique you could find in a real confrontation. So, while watching ask yourself, how would I defend in this situation.

It’s always easy to critique from afar. I just don’t see the man executing the block truly taking the punch on different path to avoid the head. In other words if the guy had thrown a committed punch, that block would not have done its job. Blocking is attacking whatever is bearing down on you, and deflecting a technique away from your vital areas. That being said, both men in the video look strong and competent. Yet, I see this type of ineffective technique practiced in training halls all around. Bringing to my mind the idea that what we practice is what we will use in a real life situation.

She has good technique and great aggression and speed. However, in his break down, he actually has her twisting the incorrect way. Yet, at full speed she does it correctly. Other than that not a bad One Handed Pluck against the choke defense.
